We have been learning about the environment and what it means to be part of a community this Term. As part of our learning, pupils have been taking turns to clean up our neighbourhood. Armed with litter picking devices that have been kindly loaned to us by Stockport Council we have been out and about in Heaton Mersey.

Pupils in Years 3 and 4 cleaned up the pavements around the front of our School and the Community Centre.

Eco-warriors in action!

Next it was the turn of pupils in Years 1 and 2 who headed to nearby Heaton Mersey Park. They were delighted to find that there wasn't too much litter as this left them with a little time to test out the play equipment!

Year 2 teacher Miss Davies commented "The litter picking initiative has helped with our focus in Science on materials as it has enabled us to study what can be re-used and recycled and what needs to be thrown away. We've also spent time thinking about what it means to have pride in our surroundings and how easy it is for us to 'do our bit'."
